 10-Thyroidism

In the initial stages, there was a problem of thyroid only after the goiter. Nowadays it has been controlled to a great extent.

1-What is thyroid ?

The thyroid gland is in the lower part of our throat. This leads to secretion of particular hormones T-3, T-4 and TSH. The balance of its quantity has an adverse effect on our health. These hormones are needed for all the cells of the body to function properly. In addition, T-3 and T-4 hormones also have a major role in controlling the process of metabolism. Therefore, the direct effect of decrease or excess in their secretion is seen on the appetite, sleep and mood of the person.

 2-Why the problem occurs ?

There are usually two types of thyroid problems. The first type of problem is called hypothyroidism. In this, the thyroid gland begins to work slowly and cannot produce enough of the body's required hormones T-3, T-4, but increases the level of TSH in the body. On the other hand, in the case of hyperthyroidism, the thyroid gland becomes very active. This causes the T3 and T4 hormones to become more soluble in blood and lower TSH levels. Research so far has found that 10 percent of the total population of any country has a problem of hyperthyroidism. It is harmful for health in both the situations. This problem bothers women more than men.

3-What is the reason ?

The exact cause of this problem is not yet known by doctors and scientists, as it is not a contagious disease like colds, nor is it related to food, pollution and lifestyle. According to doctors, it is called immune disease. This means that due to imbalance of T3, T4 hormones and TSH hormones originating from the thyroid gland, symptoms start to develop on their own within the body. However, there are some reasons why this problem can occur.

-This problem is mostly due to genetic reasons.

 - Sometimes it happens that the thyroid gland of the child does not develop well at birth, or in some cases it does not cause complete secretion of hormones even though this gland develops. Because of this, this problem can be congenital in the child.

There are some anti-biotic and steroid drugs, whose effect also inhibits the secretion of thyroid gland to hormones. This causes symptoms of hypothyroidism in the body.

4-hypo-thyroidism symptoms

 - Reduced concentration, irritability and sadness in behavior.

 - Winter sweating.

 -Essential fatigue and insomnia.

 - Rapid weight gain.

 -Irregularity in period.

 - Fast fall of constipation, dry skin and hair.

 - Missing or conceive.

 - Increased cholesterol.

 - Decreased heart work capacity.

 - Body and swelling on the face.

 Prevention and treatment

-Every woman should have a thyroid check once a year even if there is no problem.

-If ever you see any such symptom within you, then after taking thyroid test at an interval of every six months, take the medicine regularly on the advice of the doctor. This keeps the level of hormones in the body balanced.

 - Make sure to have a checkup before contracting and if there is a problem of thyroid then       try to control. Its disturbance in pregnancy can lead to anemia, miscarriage, infant                 mortality after birth and congenital mental malformations in the baby.

 - The child's thyroid test must be done within the third to fifth day after birth.

5-Hyper-thyroidism symptoms

 - Hand-foot tremble.

 What is the treatment ?

If a woman has such a problem, first of all drugs should be taken regularly after consulting a doctor. If the problem is more serious, iodine therapy or surgery is used as the last option of treatment. Whether hypo or hyperthyroidism, both conditions prove to be very harmful for health. Therefore, regular checkups and prescription drugs are very important.
